An audio podcast is a good way to start a communicative repertoire with other people on the web. It’s also a good supplement to a blog, especially for readers who don’t have much time for in-depth analysis. Ever feel like sharing your voice over the internet? Use podcasts to interact with more people around the world and here we list what you need to do to create an audio podcast on your own.

Steps to Create An Audio Podcast

 

Step 1: Premise and Dedication

 

First, you need to nail down a premise: How is your podcast going to work for you? What do you want it to do for your readers? How long will it take? How many people participate, and is there anyone be your guest? Do you want to make it just as a talk-show, or a sound-scape with sound effects and BGM? Thus making a good organization will help you create an audio podcast much easier to understand.

Whether you want to make a short and simple podcast or a professional one, dedication is the key. Unlike blog posts, you have less time for tangents and you need to prepare the material for your talk. Although it takes time, effort, and a lot of dedication to finish, there is no need to be discouraged.

 


Step 2: Equipment

Here’s a list of equipment you will probably need:

Preamp/Condenser/Hardware EQ
Computer
Audio Editor
Headphones
Stands for Mic

A microphone is undoubtedly the most important equipment for audio recording. There are two types of microphones: dynamic and condenser. The dynamic mic is more expensive, but it is good at isolating the voice for getting rid of background noises. A condenser mic is cheaper and it records your voice in more “natural” sound but it is more vulnerable to background noises. Depending on your budget, you can choose either of them for recording.

If you want to create an audio podcast, you will need a computer to handle audio processing. Getting a real preamp, a hardware compressor or hardware EQ will ensure you to get a good signal from the mic. As far as software goes, Free Audio Editor is a free, easy-to-use audio editor that also records very well. Good stands can dampen ambient feedback and keep your hands free from your computer. They can take the strain off of your neck and back.

Lastly, you will need a pair of headphones to hear what everyone is saying without it feeding back into the mic. In-ear monitor works well, or the over-the-ear is also ok, but you need to make sure it has decent quality.

 


Step 3: Setup and Recording

Once you’ve got an idea of your equipment, it’s time to designate your setup. You need a professional sound studio, a clear room where people can move, and talk without much background noise. Make your mic stand at the optimal place so that you can be free to keep a good posture. When you are recording, try to speak slowly and enunciate. Although you might mess it up, that’s fine. Because you need to cut or edit it later and just keep talking. You’d better leave some breaks, and if needed, you can record in different sessions. And lastly, just keep sipping water because talking can make you feel thirsty!

 


Step 4: Editing and Polishing the Audio

 

If you finishing the recording with good audio, then you just need to make some edits and cut out the errors. Usually, if your mic or recording settings can’t filter everything out, you should use some noise removal for a piece of clear audio. 1. Go to “Home” tab, click “Open” to input your recording to edit. Then you will see the audio loaded in the waveform in the program window.

2. Choose a part to edit and there are 4 ways: use hotkeys, drag your mouse along the waveform, move the slider bar and set start/end/length time.

3. Navigate to “Edit” tab and there you are provided with a list of editing tools including cut, copy, paste, crop, delete, etc. If needed, “Undo” and “Redo” can be used to correct your editing. You can also apply various audio effects for polishing your editing.

4. When you finish your audio editing, go to “Home – Save”. Choose one of the options for file saving: “Save File”, “Save File As” and “Save Selection As”. Finally, you will be prompted to set the output quality.

Finally, when you’ve edited your recording down to an organized piece of art, you will need to get people to listen to it. There are two parts: the hosting and the feed. Hosting is where the podcast comes from, whether from your website or storage space. Feeds are how it is accessed by a reader like iTunes. You can choose one of them according to your needs.

Dear friends,

I hope you're all having a lovely August. I was able to catch the California heatwave in July, followed by a storm named Hans once I got to Sweden, and then Hurricane Hilary hit SoCal after I'd left. (Hope you're all dry and well, California friends!)

Here's a quick update on what's been going on. My California/Nevada solo tour was a blast and a half. It started on the California Central Coast and then took me to Reno, NV, for the Daughters of Norway National Convention. See below for some photos.

Thank you again to this wonderful community of Norwegian-American women for having me and for supporting what I do!

I'm currently back in my Purple Shed studio in Sweden, working on various upcoming projects. I've been writing new songs and just getting creative again, which feels pretty amazing. As always, what comes out of me is a bit genre-fluid, but it's definitely still folky with country vibes. That's all I can say right now.

I'm also planning a holiday tour around California at the end of the year, where I'll be performing some timeless holiday tunes as well as originals. A Permanent Shadow - A Xmas Gift in May

A Permanent Shadow is a band for want of a better description. Its only fixture is CP Fletcher who for his recordings surrounds himself with a rotating cast of musicians and producers. Albert Català, a classically trained piano player, helps CP whip the demos into shape. The finishing touches in the studio are usually provided by renowned producer Valentín Nieto who has produced both albums “Songs of Loss” (2019) and “Humdrum” (2022) as well a s the covers EP “UnderCover”.

CP took his first steps as a front man forming a Lou Reed tribute project, The Magic and Loss Orchestra. Such is his admiration for the curmudgeon from New York that the tribute experience ended up bleeding into A Permanent Shadow via a cover of “Sword of Damocles”, originally featured on Reed’s Magic and Loss album and included on “Songs of Loss” in a reworked form. The album also features a reading of “See the Lights” by another of CP’s heroes, Simple Minds. For “Humdrum” APS covered Scott Walker’s “Man From Reno” as well as Marianne Faithfull’s “Broken English”.

A Permanent Shadow’s music is a blend of old and new. The songs draw from the likes of Iggy Pop, Scott Walker, Gary Numan, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Japan and Nine Inch Nails as well as Editors, Interpol and Franz Ferdinand, encompassing post-punk, funk-punk and synth-pop.




A PERMANENT SHADOW RETURN WITH A XMAS GIFT IN MAY

A Permanent Shadow, the musical collective around CP Fletcher, returns with a standalone single called “A Xmas Gift in May”. The song will be available in three different versions from May 19th. Originally titled “Black Lolita”, the track was initially not intended for release, but CP changed his mind after listening back to the original version sung by a guest vocalist. “I had all but forgotten about the song, but I accidentally found a copy on my hard drive and thought that it would be a shame not to re-record and release it with a different title as A Permanent Shadow.”

The original was recorded in 2021 as a birthday gift for a soon-to-be past flame of CP’s, inspired by the rather rocky beginning of a relationship that eventually proved short-lived and turbulent. “I wrote this song in a state of absolute euphoria and an unbearable urge to be with a person who in hindsight was not for me. All the red flags were there but I refused to acknowledge them.”

“A Xmas Gift in May” will be released in its original arrangement which features some interesting musical references to classic Sixties pop like “All you Need Is Love”, albeit in a modern guise using a metronomic backbeat and modern-day production values. CP is especially fond of a remix performed by longtime collaborator Valen Nieto which leans heavily on elements of Eighties Italo Disco. The EP release is completed with an intimate take consisting of piano and lead vocals only.

However, none of the EP versions will be included on A Permanent Shadow’s next album, tentatively called “No Leaf Clover” and out in autumn 2023. “This song and another standalone single we are planning to release will not feature on the long play”, states Fletcher. “The album has a different sound and narrative that neither of these two compositions would fit in with. A straight love song like this one would be at odds with the rather bleak lyrical themes that the album deals with.”

“No Leaf Clover” will already be A Permanent Shadow’s third record after “Songs of Loss” (2019) and “Humdrum” (2022), apart from a covers EP. CP Fletcher is the group’s sole constant member, although multi-instrumentalist and producer Valen Nieto as well as keyboarder Albert Català have featured on all APS releases. Film director Dani Moreno has been in charge of most of the band’s visuals. “I work with a tight-knit team, although it’s fair to say that APS is solo project disguised as a band. I think it’s a great band name, but at the same time I wouldn’t want to suffer the constraints of a conventional band. I’ve been in many, and it usually ends badly because of people’s ego. That’s why I’d rather make my own mistakes and suffer the consequences without having to justify myself.”

Expect more mistakes to be made as A Permanent Shadow are already working on a second covers EP and demoing the songs for a fourth album! But before those efforts bear any demonstrable results, there’s the small matter of the new single. “I strongly believe in A Xmas Gift in May”, asserts Fletcher. “It’s a heartfelt piece of romanticism, which is a rare subject matter for me to write about. I have fond memories of the rollercoaster ride which was my life when I wrote it, and I hope we’ve managed to pack some of that desire, longing and uncertainty into the song’s spirit.”

The EP A Xmas Gift in May by A Permanent Shadow will be released on May 19th 2023.

Heidi Tann is back releasing an old classic piece " Baby Come Back", from the British Band, "Player", written by Peter Beckett and John Crowley. The song hit number 1 in the Billboard charts in January 14,1978.

This classic song has been given a fresh new sound with the help of her arranger, Bobby Gomez, featuring Billboard Smooth Jazz headliner, " Nils", produced and engineered by Grammy winner, Pete Tokar. Heidi's take on the timeless song showcases her vocal range and interpretation, paying homage to the original and putting her own spin to the song.

Heidi Tann is Filipina/American singer/songwriter who sings with ease, Her interest in music started at the age of five, singing for parties for family gatherings.

Cutting Edge acquires 'major' film music catalog from First Score Music in multi-million dollar deal

Last month, UK-born Cutting Edge Media Music (CEMM) secured $100 million in financing from a group of banks led by Pinnacle Financial Partners to boost its cash reserves to invest in music for film, television, video games and more.That new $100 million raise came after a year during which the company invested $125 million, raised in an initial round, to acquire film and TV music rights.Now, CEMM has announced the acquisition of what it says is a 'major film music catalog' - from UK-based media company First Score Music Ltd.CEMM says that the acquisition gives it full master and publishing rights to more than 75 "premium" film scores.Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but a source tells MBW that the transaction was in the high seven figures... (MBW)
