Mike Thompson
Debut Album from Mike Thompson features music industry heavyweights.
May 20, 2015 (Panama City, Florida, USA)
The debut album by singer-songwriter Mike Thompson, "Out of My Head", was officially released on May 20th. The eleven tracks are powered by Thompson’s heart-felt lyrics, layered melodies, and driving rhythms.
This indie-rocker has some big name collaborators on this effort. Half of the tracks feature lead guitar and additional vocals of Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Alice Cooper), as recorded by the legendary engineer Michael Wagener (Dokken, Metallica, Queen, and many more) in his Nashville Wire World Studio. Country star Collin Raye makes a special guest vocalist appearance on a high-energy cover of the Jay Ferguson classic "Thunder Island". JJ Crews produced and recorded the album, and Eric Conn of Independent Mastering, whose clients range from Ted Nugent to Garth Brooks, mastered the project.
Thompson says of the album, "Like all good music, the tracks all have stories of their own. While I never intended it, there are themes of compassion and caring, nostalgia, love found, and friends lost woven all through the album. It is where I am in my life. Dealing with the loss of family members and friends, the joy and hardships of raising kids, and the bitter-sweetness of looking back on a life lived. Not every part of every song on there is about my life, but if you listen to it enough times, you will know a lot about me."
Out of My Head tack listing:
1) The River
2) Radio Cosmos
3) The One
4) Little Dreamer
5) Jaded
6) Baggage
7) Homestead
8) Hype
9) Thunder Island

11) Memories of you

On song writing
My approach to creating music is very straightforward and honest. I get an idea for a hook, a melody, a phrase. I kick it around for a while and see where it goes. Does it feel right? Is there some experience in my life that I can tie to it? Is there something to make it be meaningful, moving, or even funny? If it resonates with me, it grows and takes on a life of its own. All that is left is trying to capture the thought so that it can be communicated to others. Rik Emmet wrote that music is "...not just a game of notes, it's the sounds inside your soul." I couldn't agree with him more.
On the new album
I am thrilled at, and fiercely proud of, how well the new album came out. Some of those songs have been bouncing around my head for decades. It’s been a fantastic experience working with the amazingly talented people that came together for this effort. The tracks all have stories of their own. While never intended, there are themes of compassion and caring, nostalgia, love found, and friends lost woven all through the album. It is where I am in my life. Dealing with the loss of family members and friends, the joy and hardships of raising kids, and the bitter-?sweetness of looking back on a life lived. Not every part of every song on there is about my life, but if you listen to it enough times, you will know a lot about me.
On working with music industry heavy-?weights
I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with several big names in music. My producer, JJ Crews, arranged for a local session guitarist to lay down the lead tracks for the entire CD. Before that could happen, he was killed in a horrible accident. Needless to say, we were all shaken. Once we got past the human tragedy, we had to find a replacement. JJ told me he would check with some of someone he had worked with in Nashville to find a session player up there. It turns out the "someone" was engineer Michael Wagener, whose credits include work with Dokken, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Queen, and on and on. He made a few calls, and I get asked if I would like to work with Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Alice Cooper)? I jumped all over that offer! We sent up a few tracks for him to listed to and chew on. After a few weeks, JJ and I flew up to Nashville to work in Wagener’s Wire World Studio. Mark was great to work with. He brought in ideas and angles that really brought the tunes to life. All of which were recorded with Michael Wagener’s signature guitar sounds. Amazing!
Country star Collin Raye has been a friend of the family for the last 5 or 6 years. He has done several shows for varies charities we support. I let him know I was working on an album of my own and joked that he should come sing on it. He said he would love to and I thought that would be the end of that. A few months later I’m chatting with him and he brings it up again. He was good as his word! So, we made the arrangements, he flew down to Panama City to record at JJ Crews’ Boogie Tracks Studio. We decided to do a cover of one of a fun song from Jay Ferguson called Thunder Island. To say that I was a little nervous to be singing on the same song with a guy that has sixteen number one hits is a bit of an understatement! Collin is a heck of a guy and a real pro. He took all the tension out of the room and it was a fun evening of music. He is a closet rocker, and really had it going on in the vocal booth.
While the average music lover might not have ever heard of Eric Conn, the client list of his Independent Mastering service in Nashville ranges from Ted Nugent to Garth Brooks. His final treatment of the tracks was spot on and makes them really explode out of your stereo.
About Mike Thompson
I was born and raised on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida. My travels have taken me literally around the world, but I always seem to follow my wondering feet back home. I love the slow pace, friendly people, and the connection with nature that you get here.
I've played in lots of bands, from jazz, to country, to modern rock. When I wasn't being too hard-?headed to pay attention, I learned a lot from all the great musicians and friends that I have had the pleasure to work with. I try to pour all of those lessons and a little bit of myself into everything I do now.
I like to read. I make things. I take pictures. I try to be a good friend, a good husband, and a good father. I like how a great song makes you feel. I love the energy of a concert.

Kevin Beadles
EVERYONE IS GETTING “ALL DOWN FOR AUSTIN”
Kevin Beadles’ latest single, “All Down for Austin,” is a fun-loving country-flavored composition inspired by the South by Southwest music festival.
(BERKELEY, CA, U.S.A) MARCH 7th, 2017 – This time of year, everyone is getting ready to head down to Austin for SXSW (South by Southwest). It was during a recent trip to the famed festival that Kevin Beadles was inspired to pen his latest track, “All Down for Austin.” The song is a country-flavored composition that showcases Kevin’s award-winning ability to pair hooky melodies with clever, entertaining storylines.
Kevin Beadles - All Down for Austin“All Down for Austin” was written by Beadles and his lead guitarist, John Foster. The lyrics capture their wild adventure traveling from Northern California down to Texas to perform in Austin for the first time. With 3000 bands converging on the “Live Music Capital of the World,” few things went as expected, but they still had a blast playing there. Kevin explains, “This song was born the night we gigged in a dive bar down on 6th Street and could barely hear ourselves over the roar of the party outside.”
That night in Texas turned out to be a serendipitous evening for Beadles, as his band got to meet popular New Orleans roots rockers, The Iguanas, and legendary drummer Brady Blade (Dylan, Emmylou, Dave Matthews). Blade not only is mentioned in the lyrics of “All Down for Austin” but played on the track. Kevin elaborates, “The next year, we’re back in Austin, this time sharing a bill with Brady. So, we ask him if we could give a shout-out in our new song. To our surprise, he not only agreed but said, ‘Hell, I’ll play drums on it if you want me to!”
A stack of talented artists accompanies Blade and Beadles on “All Down for Austin,” including top-notch Bay Area artist Loralee Christensen on backing vocals. Robert Powell – a guitar guru who’s worked alongside Peter Gabriel and Jackson Browne – lent his skills on the lap steel. “All Down for Austin” will be on Beadles’ forthcoming album titled, Be Young Today, due out in 2018. Beadles has a new music video to accompany this fun-loving, country-fried composition. So, if you don’t have time to trek to Texas, follow Kevin Beadles’ “track,” and experience SXSW by cueing up “All Down for Austin.”

Mondo Cozmo

Earlier this year, “Shine,” the empowering new single from L.A.-based singer-songwriter Josh Ostrander, better known as Mondo Cozmo, rocketed to the top of Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Songs chart.
Now, EW is pleased to premiere the cut’s music video. Like the tune itself, which Ostrander described as “a song of hope” in an email to EW, the video for “Shine” goes heavy on feel-good vibes and camaraderie. But the clip didn’t come together easily.
“The video was a f—ing nightmare,” Ostrander said. “I think we shot 10 videos for it and none of them worked. Then somebody had an idea to shoot people smiling and I thought it was so simple and brilliant.”
After making a splash at South by Southwest, Mondo Cozmo set out last week as the opener for Bastille’s spring arena tour — a jaunt Ostrander says he’s preparing for by doing “push-ups and drinking beer.”
And he’ll have fresh music on the way soon, with his debut full-length due out “this summer, just in time for Lollapalooza.”

Patti's first single, "Tell Him," hit number 22 on the R&B charts in fall 1967. One year later, her recording of the Neil Sedaka/Roger Atkins song "Workin' on a Groovy Thing" made it to number 34 R&B.
Drew's other singles were "Hundreds of Guys," "Keep on Movin'," "Hard to Handle", made famous by "The Black Crows" and "My Lover's Prayer."
Then in 1971, the bottom fell out. "The culture of music performers at that time was fast, stressful and demanding," Patti said a interview with Shorefront Journal, "and it was easy to get caught up in it if you were not careful.
I was supposed to perform with James Brown and I missed it because of my habit... By that time, it was either give up the drugs or the singing, and I was not strong enough at that time to give up the drugs. I was strung out. I ended up in rehab. Four months later, I came home. My singing career was over."
In mid 2016 David Salas, owner of ARMS411.com, a boutique company who helps legacy artists claim their royalties, arranged a few high profile shows with Alan Beck of Pacific Concert Group.
Patti is poised to take the stage in Fresno at the Selland Arena on Feb. 9th, Honda Center on Feb. 10th and Talking Sticks Events Center in Phoenix AZ on Feb. 17th. This will be her first performance in more than 40 years.
